Long COVID

Long Covid - Post ICU PTSD Treatment

Long COVID refers to symptoms resulting from coronavirus that remain long after the infection has gone. We have know for some time that people who have been critically unwell often experience physical, cognitive and psychological changes. However, we also know that even people who had a relatively mild coronavirus infection have sometimes been left with persistent and debilitating symptoms. These symptoms include (but are not limited to) persistent fatigue, shortness of breath, changes to memory or concentration, cardiac changes, difficulties regulating body temperature and psychological changes.

The NHS has set up a very useful website containing lots of self-help information and resources. This can be found at https://www.yourcovidrecovery.nhs.uk/

Clinical Psychologists can often also help people to manage the psychological effects of long term conditions and can help people to live better alongside their illness. Sometimes people find it helpful to work alongside a clinical psychologist or other psychological therapist to apply self-help information to their own lives. We encourage you to access NHS services through discussion with your GP or alternatively please get in touch with us if you would like to set up an initial appointment.
