Matthew specialises in the assessment and treatment of psychological and emotional difficulties arising from personal injury, critical illness/ICU admission, major trauma, and cardiac illness, including PTSD and other emotional disorders. He has held clinical lead positions in clinical psychology services within intensive care, major trauma, musculo-skeletal rehabilitation, cardiac, and chronic pain services. He has co-authored book chapters, national reports and guidelines advising on the psychological management of hospitalised patients.
Regarding work with organisations and teams, Matthew led a NHS Trust’s psychological care of patients, families and NHS staff through the COVID-19 pandemic and both developed and led specialist services designed to optimise team functioning through the pandemic. Outside of healthcare he has worked in a senior role in a City of London Psychological Consultancy. He provides organisational interventions and psychological skills training programmes to FTSE 100 organisations and other NHS Trusts to improve health, performance and staff experience at work.
Matthew is a full member of the Expert Witness Institute and specialises in the assessment and treatment of psychological and emotional disorders arising from personal injury, major trauma and critical illness. He accepts instructions from both Claimant and Defence in personal injury and clinical negligence cases and produces approximately 25 reports annually.
